Welcome to Lower Fields Primary School

"This is a good school. Standards are rising and pupils achieve well.' Ofsted 2014

On behalf of the children, staff and governors, I would like to welcome you to Lower Fields Primary School. We hope that you find our website clear, informative and easy to navigate. It is designed to give you a wide range of information and also a flavour of the wonderful learning opportunities our pupils experience through our broad and balanced curriculum.

Our school is a medium sized primary school. We are incredibly fortunate that Lower Fields Primary School is set in spacious grounds close to Bradford City Centre. Our school building has gradually been extended and improved since it opened 15 years ago as a primary school.

Our indoor space includes; a designated room for music and drama, a nurture room supporting some of our most vulnerable pupils, a Maths and English intervention room and contemporary shared learning spaces.

Our outdoor space is vast and provides children with extensive outdoor learning opportunities including:

  • A large tarmacked sports court
  • A nature/wildlife area
  • An adventure trail
  • An orchard, growing tunnel and raised beds
  • Dedicated play areas for Nursery and Reception classes
  • A key stage one ‘Treasure Island’ play area
  • An amphitheatre
  • A kinaesthetic park that can be adapted to any time period
  • A large football pitch

Visitors to our school comment positively on our size and space, our facilities and the stimulating environment. The culture and atmosphere is described as ‘respectful and nurturing’.

It is my priority that the education your child receives here with us will enable them to achieve their full personal and academic potential. We believe in nurturing confident and resilient pupils who are ready for the next phase of their education.

It is also my belief that all our children are filled with positive experiences during their time here and that they are made aware of the infinite possibilities that await them in life. As part of our broad curriculum we are committed to ensuring that the children of Lower Fields Primary School learn and understand what it means to be a British Citizen and the values that encompass this. Living in Bradford it is important that they learn how understand, accept, respect and celebrate cultural diversity, therefore preparing them to deal effectively with the challenges that the modern world presents.

All of the staff at Lower Fields Primary School share this vision and recognise children as unique individuals with specific abilities and needs. They work hard to provide a varied and engaging curriculum and a positive school experience, which is enhanced by a number of special days, weeks and events throughout the year. Parents are very much welcomed and encouraged to join us for these enjoyable and informative occasions.

If you would like to know more about our school, you are very welcome to come and visit. We would also appreciate any feedback on the website, particularly if you have suggestions on how it could be improved.
